Our strategy for success...
This strategic plan is the culmination of years of work by dedicated people who have realized that “without water, nothing lives.” We hear of children dying from swimming in our rivers and lakes, fish kills, mutations, and uneatable fish with lesions, parasites, or poisoned tissue. All as a result of polluted water.
This plan will be a step forward in achieving our vision. The plan clearly outlines goals and action items shared between Kentucky, West Virginia, and Virginia to improve the water quality of the Big Sandy River Basin. We also hope this plan and the projects resulting from the plan will bring much needed attention to watershed-based planning as a tool for states and local governments to work together.
Over time we can make a difference in our little corner of the world. We must make ourselves heard in order for others to join us in our fight to preserve our most precious and necessary natural resource.
My thanks to everyone who participated in this plan and to all those who have worked so hard to bring the Big Sandy River Basin to the forefront.
Without Water, Nothing Lives
